Canadian Visas

Visitor Visa (TRV)

What it is: A visa required for nationals of certain countries to enter Canada temporarily for tourism, visiting family, or business purposes.
Requirements:

  • Proof of sufficient funds for the visit.

  • A valid passport.

  • No history of criminality or security concerns.

  • Strong ties to home country (job, family, property) to show intent to leave Canada after the visit.

  • Some applicants may need to undergo a medical exam.

Transit Visa

What it is: A visa for travelers who are passing through Canada on their way to another country and will be in Canada for less than 48 hours.
Requirements:

  • Required for nationals of certain countries even if they do not leave the airport.

  • Valid travel documents and proof of onward travel.

Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)

What it is: A digital travel authorization required for visa-exempt foreign nationals traveling to Canada by air. Linked electronically to the traveler’s passport, it allows multiple entries for up to 5 years or until the passport expires.
Requirements:

  • Available only to citizens of visa-exempt countries (e.g., EU countries, UK, Australia).

Super Visa

What it is: A long-term multiple-entry visa for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents, allowing stays of up to 5 years per visit.
Requirements:

  • Must be a parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or PR.

  • Invitation letter from a child or grandchild in Canada.

  • Proof of minimum income from the host.

  • Private Canadian medical insurance for at least one year.

  • Medical exam may be required.
